At Don Whitley Scientific (DWS), we take pride in ensuring that our products meet our customers’ expectations. That’s why we develop and manufacture all of our equipment in-house, guaranteeing the highest standards of quality and reliability. What’s more, our service team stay in close contact with our customers throughout their buying journey. Most of our customers need their workstations to operate 24/7 so we supply maintenance and repair contracts to ensure equipment is able to work consistently. Customers will continue to receive support from DWS as part of our commitment, ‘small enough to care, big enough to deliver’.
It's no wonder that many of our customers have more than one Whitley Workstation in their labs; our equipment is trusted by research institutions, hospitals, and laboratories around the world. And our service team regularly install new equipment for existing customers, replace old Whitley Workstations with new, and replace other branded equipment with our own.
Over a decade of use: Charing Cross Hospital
Recently, DWS installed a new Whitley A55 Anaerobic Workstation on behalf of North West London Pathology at their hub site at Charing Cross Hospital – replacing their long-serving Whitley A45 Workstation, which had been in use since 2014. The newly installed A45 Workstation joined their existing A55 Workstation (also installed in 2014) and Whitley Jar Gassing system, creating a robust suite of anaerobic equipment to support their ongoing microbiology work. After 11 years of dependable service, the original A45 – equipped with Instant Access Ports, a removable front, and optional features including the Anaerobic Conditions Monitoring System, Data Logging and Letterbox Entry System – had reached the end of its service life. The decision to upgrade ensures continued reliability, improved performance, and compatibility with the department’s evolving workflow.
DWS is happy to replace other branded equipment with our own. A new Whitley A35 Workstation was installed at Salisbury Hospital, where it replaced another non-DWS anaerobic chamber.
The installation of the A35 at Salisbury Hospital is a testament to the commitment of DWS to facilitating excellence in science. One of the team members from Salisbury attended the Practical & Clinical Microbiology of Anaerobes Course in 2018, administered by DWS on behalf of the UK Anaerobic Reference Unit, and found the course highly valuable.
By delivering high-quality equipment, exceptional service, and opportunities for education and training, DWS continues to culture innovation and contribute to scientific advancements in a wide range of disciplines.
It’s rewarding when our customers continue to choose our products and services again and again, especially when we are given the opportunity to replace old Whitley Workstations with much newer ones. This allows us to see how our workstations have maintained their quality and durability throughout their lifespan.
