Last week marked Biomedical Science Day - an annual event organised by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) to celebrate the significant contributions of biomedical scientists in healthcare. Don Whitley Scientific (DWS) would like to honour the day by sharing more about our recent visit to the 2025 Biomedical Science FYP (Final Year Project) Showcase and Networking Event at the University of Bradford.
DWS attended the event on 9 May, where we had the opportunity to speak with final year biomedical students about their research and career aspirations, as well as second year students seeking guidance and support. Furthermore, we had the chance to connect with other businesses supporting the event and understand their role in the field of healthcare. It was great to see such a variety of choices and resources available for the students.
The main purpose of the event was to celebrate the students’ hard work and give them the opportunity to present their final year projects. Isobel Grace from the DWS marketing team attended the event and said, “It was truly rewarding to support this event, as it was evident that the students had put in tremendous effort on their projects, making it a perfect occasion to celebrate both their individual achievements and their collective success. Everybody was really supportive of one another, which was wonderful to see.”
At the end of the event, DWS Microbiologist, Kirsty McTear selected the top three best poster presentations and awarded the winning students with Amazon vouchers. The winners were:
1st place – Lamia Wera
2nd place – Amir Khan
3rd place – Hanifa Kaleem
